Breakfast Update
Breakfast
has been very successful. As noted in
the permission slip, the breakfast program will be piloted from December 1st to
January 30th. If we have enough
participants, we will continue the program the remainder of the year. The average number of students participating
has continued to increase since we began the program. Therefore, it is highly probable breakfast
will be an embedded program. If you have
not done so, you can send in your permission form at any time.
Cost:
$1.70 per breakfast/ $.30 for reduced breakfast. Students will pay for breakfast
using
their normal lunch accounts. Students
that qualify for free and reduced lunch also qualify for free and reduced
breakfast.
Parade of Nations
As
usual, Passport Night was a HUGE success.
Equally successful, we hosted our fourth annual Passport Parade on
Friday. Each year more and more students
participate. I personally love these
events. I really enjoy learning about
new cultures. However, maybe more
important, I value having a personal connection with members of our Reed
Family. Both provide forums for our Reed
Families to share with others what makes them unique and special.
As
special opportunities arise within the classroom or in your family’s traditions
and celebrations, we encourage you to contact your classroom teacher to have
your child share a 5–10 minute presentation. Please contact your child’s
teacher a week beforehand to schedule a convenient time. Through the gift of
sharing, we develop a stronger understanding of one another and increase our
sense of community. Thank you for
considering sharing your family’s traditions throughout the year and being part
of our Reed community.

Sharing Holiday Happiness
Sharing Holiday Happiness
All of us
at Reed understand that even though the holiday season is a joyous time of year,
it also can be stressful and financially burdensome. Over the years, several of our parents and
staff members have reached out to assist families in need through local charity
organizations. Although the
contributions were incredible and helped many families outside our district, we
continue to have parents and staff members asking how they can do more to help
families who attend the Ladue School District. As a result, we at Reed are making a school
wide initiative to help Ladue School District
families have a joyous holiday season.
Here
is how you can be involved:
1. Select a snowflake located
in the hallway next to the gym.
Snowflakes will be available starting December 5th. Each snowflake has one item that reflects
someone’s dreams (need or want off his/her wish list). Purchase the item and return it to Reed
unwrapped with the original snowflake by December 16th. The District Social Worker, Maxine Birdsong,
will deliver each item privately to the family. All names will remain confidential.
2. Volunteer to help organize
snowflakes and/or donations. Please contact Susan Gartenberg, (counselor),
Katie Ciorba (parent), Julie Higginbotham (parent), or Dr. Chris Schreiner (principal),
if you are interested in helping.
3. If your family would benefit
from holiday assistance from your “Reed Family”, please contact Maxine Birdsong
and/or Susan Gartenberg.
Thank
you so much for supporting our community!
